Wedding Vendors Assemble!
Ready to build your dream team of wedding vendors but not sure where to start? You've come to the right blog! We're going to share some insight on questions we use when helping our wedding couples select their wedding vendors!
Selecting your vendor team can make or break your entire wedding, so it's important to make sure you're picking the right vendors for your wedding day! We also like to highlight that every wedding is different, so it's understandable that not every amazing wedding vendor is going to be the right fit for you! Just because someone is a phenomenal wedding professional, doesn't mean they're the perfect choice for your wedding, and that's ok! As a wedding professional, we know how important this day is to you, and we understand that we might not be what you're looking for. This doesn't take away from the level of service we provide, just that we're not exactly what you're looking for on your wedding day. You're going to interview a lot of really spectacular companies, but by using the question below, you're going to be able to feel confident you selected the right ones for your day!
Ask Them Some Questions...
What packages do you offer and what do they include?
It's important to note the pricing and inclusions for each vendor to make the comparison process easier.
What does your payment schedule look like?
Most vendors require a deposit and final payment. Having advanced knowledge of when those are due is super helpful in the planning process. It's also good to ask how they accept payments.
Who will be our main point of contact leading up to and on the wedding day?
If the person you're talking to on the initial call is not going to be the point of contact, you'll want to know who is and when you'll be connected with them.
Will you send me a sample contract?
Seeing a vendor's contract will help you understand exactly what they're providing, if there are any additional fees, and what contingency plans they have in place.
Ask Yourself Some Questions...
Does this vendor fit my budget?
Let's face it, your budget is important, and a huge factor of your vendor selections. Although this shouldn't be the only determining component, it is a big one. When you're building your budget, it's important to know the industry standard prices to make sure you're alloting the right amount of funds into each category. A lot of self planning guides will give you a generic breakdown, but we encourage our couples to further solidify their wedding budgets by selecting details that are important to them and which aren't. This way, you're spending your money where it matters. Also note what each vendor is providing with their quote to see how it syncs up with your budget.
What are past couples saying about this vendor?
A great way to get an idea of a potential vendor's work is through their reviews. Most vendors have a listing on public wedding sites such as The Knot, WeddingWire, or Zola where couples will leave notes about their experience. You want to make sure that the reviews resonate with how you want to feel on your wedding day.
Does this vendor's work align with my wedding vision?
This is such a key element when you're sorting out potential vendors! Make sure you're looking at previous weddings the vendor has done to see if they speak to you. When you really like a vendor's work, it helps build the trust they will take care of you on your wedding day.
Do I vibe with this vendor?
Ok, time for our honest opinion; this is the most important qualification when picking your vendors. You're going to spend a lot of time (either leading up to or on your wedding day) with your vendors! You want to make sure you can easily and comfortably communicate with every vendor you hire for your wedding day. This can range from personality to communication style. It's important to note how you feel when you're talking to vendors and make sure you're in sync.
There are quite a few more questions and factors we cover with our couples through the vendor hiring process, but this is a solid starting point! Want some help building your team of vendors? We'd love to provide you with more tips and tricks! Contact us to schedule your planning call!
